Ms. Cano
Administrative Assistant
My name is Amy Cano and I was born and raised in Norwalk, California, where I worked as a medical assistant for 14 years before moving to Arizona in 2009. I have been employed with Copper Basin since 2009, when I was hired on as a Lunch Monitor. During the 2012 school year I became a paraprofessional for 2nd grade. In 2014 I was given the opportunity to become the front office receptionist. This school year I became the administrative secretary, which has been a great experience and opportunity for me. I look forward to what the future brings at Copper Basin. I have been married for 28 years and my husband and I have two children whom we love dearly. Our son is 25 and our daughter is 15.

Ms. Hurtado

I’m originally from Los Angeles California and moved to Arizona in July of 2005. I had the great opportunity to join the Florence Unified School District # 1 team as a campus monitor at Skyline Ranch for one year, I then moved to Copper Basin in 2007 as a Receptionist for 7 years. Then I was given the opportunity to be the school Registrar. I have been in this position for the past three years.

My husband and I have been married for 21 years and we have two wonderful kids, Victor my son; who is a sophomore in college and my daughter Xenia, who is now a freshman at Norther Arizona University.  We couldn’t be more proud of them.

Ms. Badger

My name is Dana Badger and I’ve worked for the Florence Unified School District for almost 9 years.  I was a substitute teacher for the District for 3 years, beginning in 2008.  During that time, I subbed long term at Copper Basin and Magma Ranch, and spent one year subbing for the District while teaching Character Education part-time at Skyline Ranch.

I most recently spent the past 5 years at Magma Ranch K-8 as their Librarian.  I loved every minute of my time there, but decided I needed to be closer to home, and took a job at Copper Basin as their Receptionist at the beginning of the 2016-2017 School Year.

My husband and I, along with our 3 children, have lived in Copper Basin for the past 10 years.   My daughter McKenna graduated from Poston Butte High School several years ago, spent 18 months in Paraguay, and then recently married in Jan. of this year.   Our middle son Keaton also graduated from Poston Butte last year, and will soon be moving to Ohio to work and go to school.  Our youngest son Trevyn currently attends San Tan Foothills High School as a Freshman, where he plays basketball and baseball.

Our family is proud of our history with the Florence School District, and I look forward to many more years of growing with the students and staff of Copper Basin.

Ms. Everett

Hello, my name is Renee Everett and I am the Nurse at Copper Basin.  I am an Arizona native and I have two beautiful daughters!  I have been a Registered Nurse for 7 years and I am currently in my 4th year here at Copper Basin.  I was always confident that I wanted to work with children following the completion of my nursing degree.  I have found that working here at Copper Basin has created an opportunity to enhance the health of not only the children but their families and the community.  Health is a key component to a student’s ability to learn and progress in the classroom!
