Office Staff

Mrs. Westervelt
Administrative Assistant
My name is Kayce Westervelt and I have worked in the Florence School District for the past 11 years at Skyline Ranch K-8. During my time there I held the positions of Campus Monitor, Receptionist, Registrar for 6 years and Administrative Assistant for 3 years. I am very excited to have the opportunity to work at Copper Basin K-8.

I was raised in a small town in Idaho and moved to Arizona in 2001. My husband and I have 4 children and 4 grandchildren. Three of our children have already graduated high school and our youngest will be a junior this year. I look forward to working with the Copper Basin staff and getting to know the students and parents.

Mrs. Hurtado

I’m originally from Los Angeles California and moved to Arizona in July of 2005. I had the great opportunity to join the Florence Unified School District # 1 team as a campus monitor at Skyline Ranch for one year, I then moved to Copper Basin in 2007 as a Receptionist for 7 years. Then I was given the opportunity to be the school Registrar. I have been in this position for the past three years.

My husband and I have been married for 21 years and we have two wonderful kids, Victor my son; who is a sophomore in college and my daughter Xenia, who is now a freshman at Norther Arizona University.  We couldn’t be more proud of them.

Mrs. Badger

My name is Dana Badger and I’ve worked for the Florence Unified School District for almost 9 years.  I was a substitute teacher for the District for 3 years, beginning in 2008.  During that time, I subbed long term at Copper Basin and Magma Ranch, and spent one year subbing for the District while teaching Character Education part-time at Skyline Ranch.

I most recently spent the past 5 years at Magma Ranch K-8 as their Librarian.  I loved every minute of my time there, but decided I needed to be closer to home, and took a job at Copper Basin as their Receptionist at the beginning of the 2016-2017 School Year.

My husband and I, along with our 3 children, have lived in Copper Basin for the past 10 years.   My daughter McKenna graduated from Poston Butte High School several years ago, spent 18 months in Paraguay, and then recently married in Jan. of this year.   Our middle son Keaton also graduated from Poston Butte last year, and will soon be moving to Ohio to work and go to school.  Our youngest son Trevyn currently attends San Tan Foothills High School as a Freshman, where he plays basketball and baseball.

Our family is proud of our history with the Florence School District, and I look forward to many more years of growing with the students and staff of Copper Basin.

Ms. Richardson

Hello, my name is Renee Richardson and I am the Nurse at Copper Basin.  I am an Arizona native and I have two beautiful daughters!  I have been a Registered Nurse for 7 years and I am currently in my 4th year here at Copper Basin.  I was always confident that I wanted to work with children following the completion of my nursing degree.  I have found that working here at Copper Basin has created an opportunity to enhance the health of not only the children but their families and the community.  Health is a key component to a student’s ability to learn and progress in the classroom!
